Laura: A Surrogate Mother

My Story, Part 2

Our cycle

Well, the cycle came and went with the holidays and in only 2 days we are transferring 2 beautiful embryos!!! But first to backtrack a bit into the cycle phase, we finally got THE CALENDAR!!!! Can I tell you how exciting this is for both surrogates and IP’s, this outlines exactly when this entire wonderful baby making process will begin. I started the 1st of many medications in the middle of December; Lupron which suppressed my normal hormones in order to get me ready for the docs to be able to manipulate me and my hormones just how they would like, so I can be a nice fluffy home for the embryo’s to come. Just about a week and a half later my Intended Mother started her cycling meds and before we knew it, it was retrieval time and that went just perfectly!!!! On the other side of the retrieval are the dreaded Progesterone injections I now have to do until I am 9-12 weeks pregnant. I knew all along I was going to have to do these so I tried my best not to psych myself out about it and it worked; I was successful. Since then I have done the injection each time without a problem, just a little soreness afterwards which wears off in just enough time for it to be time for the next injection. ALL I know right now is that I am so EXCITED I can’t stop smiling and am so looking forward to the transfer in 2 days. Then we get to hurry up and .................WAIT!!!!! The dreaded 2 week wait!!!!until we get the 1st BETA results. I plan to do my best and not test at home before then, we will see!
